You need both Ri app, which is free to download, and Ri hardware, which you can buy.
How do I know if my device is supported?
Please download the free Ri app and check the list of brands and devices. We have an extensive database and adding more every day. It is possible some of devices are not available. You can use the app to send us request to add specific device and we will do our best to add that for you.
Can Ri learn new codes?
No. Ri is not a learning remote. But we will soon add features to add IR Code in Pronto format files.
Do I need to charge Ri or need to replace battery?
Never. All you need to do is to connect to the headset jack and you are good to go.
Can I listen to music while using Ri?
No. Ri uses the audio port, so you cannot listen to music while using Ri.
What happens when I get a call?
Ri will let you know you have a call and you can pick it up. To talk, you can either switch to speaker (which we recommend) or remove the Ri hardware. After the call is over, Ri resumes automatically. So do not worry, you will never miss a single call while using Ri.
Can I use Ri in any iOS device?
Ri can be used for any device that supports OS version 4.2 or higher. That includes iPhones 3G, 3GS, 4G; iPod touch 2G and higher, and iPad.
Connect Ri hardware to the headset jack and start the app. That is all you need.
How do I add a new device?
Go to ADD tab and select the brand from band list, the select a device from list and wait for Ri to Configure your remote. You can edit the Remote Name, and Room Name. Also, you can add it to your Favorites List.
How to I go back to all the options from Remote View?
Touch the top Orange button.
How to I select or change remote?
- Go to either Favorites or Recent Tab.
- Select the remote of your choice and it will automatically set up your remote.
- If you touch the Detailed Disclosure button (the blue button with arrow) it shows you the information for the remote but does not select the remote.
Of course not. You need to configure only once for each remote. Once you configure a remote, it will show up in Recent and Favorites (if you added it to Favorites) List. So you can just pick the remote from any of those two lists and it will be ready for use.
How do I delete a remote from the list?
On Favorites or Recent list touch the Detailed Disclosure button (the blue button with arrow). It will show information for the remote. Use Delete Remote button at the bottom of the page to delete the remote.
How do I report a problem with my remote?
You can either use the "Report Problem" button in the Detailed Information page of the remote (which we recommend) or Contact Us button in Settings page.
How do I know Ri is connected properly?
The Ri Indicator, the box with small image of Ri at the top left corner, should be green. If it is yellow, you either connected headset or Ri is not connected properly. If you already connected Ri, simply touch the Yellow indicator and the app will try to detect it again.
Please connect Ri in the headset jack. You need Ri hardware for the app to work.
I am stuck with the remote screen and cannot go back to the tabbar options. What should I do?
Touch the top Orange button.
I connected Ri but it is not working. What should I do?
Here are the steps you may try:
- Make sure, the volume is set to maximum.
- Then try again and make sure the indicator is green.
- If the indicator is yellow, touch the indicator and try again.
- If that does not work, try restarting the app.
- In case that does not work, please reset iPhone. (See How to reset iPhone)
- If nothing works, please email us using the "Contact Us" function under settings.
No. If the remote has a lot of buttons, it may take a few minutes to configure it. But this you need to do only once for each remote.
